“Operationally Conservative” Terrorists?
Mark Stout has a great post up on whether terrorists are “operationally conservative”. He states:
It is true that since the anarchists fell in love with dynamite, most terrorist operations have been conducted with guns or bombs. It may even be true that terrorists are “operationally conservative.” However, it seems to me flabby thinking to jump from the first point to the second.

Ads: Chevy Return Policy
I’ll admit a certain amount of bias against the US car companies that took bailout money. I’m not going to debate the logic behind the decisions, but the reason for the bias is that I thought that they ignored their own best interest for years (decades?) in pursuit of profits with unsustainable business practices.
So, anyway, they’ve got their bailouts, but now they are back to pitching cars. Fine, but at least don’t put out terrible, pathetic ads on TV.

I’m on the hunt…
Well, my position was dissolved today and I’ve been let go into the world. I’m a free man with all that entails: no obligations, no responsibilities (except to my family, of course), and no paycheck!

Hamas: Moderating or Consolidating?
Hamas is dealing with strife in the Gaza Strip, fighting against an Al-Qaeda linked group called Soldiers of the Supporters of God. This group called for the establishment of an Islamic Emirate in Palestine and for the territory to be governed solely by Sharia Law, says a report on Al Jazeera English.
While there is mixed reviews from Palestinians over the appropriateness of Hamas’ crackdown, it could be an important message set to the United States. During the crackdown, the leader of the movement, his son and an aide were killed, along with at least 13 other fighters for the splinter group. Hamas lost 6 of their security forces and six civilians were also killed, including an 11-year old girl.
